Can AI actually make you better?
One person. One AI coach. Real data. No guarantees.
What happens when you give an AI perfect memory of every conversation? What if it actually learned what works for you: your patterns, your blockers, your goals, instead of starting from scratch every session?
I am building this. A personal AI coach with a custom memory architecture and fine-tuned open-source models. I am the first test subject. This page is where I document what I am building, what I am learning, and whether any of it actually works.
What I am building
- Memory that persists. A custom memory layer so the coach remembers every conversation, every goal, every breakthrough, and can actually use that context next time.
- Personalised coaching. Not generic advice. It learns my specific patterns over time: what motivates me, what derails me, what I actually follow through on.
- Open-source stack. Built on open models, no lock-in. The architecture gets documented and shared as it settles.
- Real evaluation. Measuring whether this changes behaviour, not just whether it sounds good. Real metrics, tracked over real time.
Follow along
The build log, experiment results, and honest reflections are coming. This is a living document, so it grows as the project does. It is the longest-running thing I am building, and the one throwing off the most write-ups.
Notes from the next
hard thing, now and then.
No schedule, no funnel. Just a short note when a build teaches me something worth passing on.
